YOUR LAB GUIDE

A small experiment is a good place to start.

  1. Follow the learning map from the cone to the four curves.
  2. Change one value at a time. Watch the graph and equation together.
  3. Drag P to measure the curve’s distance rule. On a phone, use the point-position slider.
  4. Try a real-life lab, then solve the practice challenges.

The + and − buttons zoom the diagram. ↓ saves a graph image. Your explored labs and solved challenges stay in this browser. The 3D cone is a live canvas model you can rotate.

BEHIND THE LAB

Mathematics, made visible.

Designed for the Class 11 conic-sections lesson. Graphs use the exact equations internally. Displayed measurements round to the shown precision. All non-circular standard forms use the origin and coordinate axes.

Application values are illustrative. The dish assumes an ideal direct-focus reflector. The orbit uses an ideal two-body model. Sound assumes two synchronised microphones, a 2D plane and uniform 340 m/s propagation. One microphone pair does not determine a unique location. Asymptotes and ellipse/hyperbola directrices are optional extensions.
